Joining our register tells owners that you are a trainer or behaviourist to be trusted. You will need to undergo a few steps.

You must complete the application form and send it to be reviewed.

If you're successful you must tell the world that you are an Animals and Learning Trainer or Applied Behaviourist

What do our trainers need?

Our requirements are at least 300 hours of client training or behavioural consultations over the last three years. This should be across no less than 100 cases. This should only include Force Free methods. We do not accept the use of electric or shock collars by our registers. If you are found to be using these methods we will remove you from our register.

 Trainers require at least 50 cases addressing categories 6, 8, 13, 14, 15. 
 Trainers must have at least 3 years of industry experience.
 Preferably an animal centric qualification at level 2 or above. This is not necessary if other elements of your application are strong. 
 You must complete the two essay questions, one centred around behaviour and welfare, and another around scientific literature. 
 You will also be asked to upload 5 case notes, with the owners details removed for data protection. The only required details is the dogs breed, age and sex.

You will need to renew your application every three years to remain on the register. This will include an upload of 10 case notes, a reflection essay and an essay on recent scientific literature in training.

What do our aPPLIED behaviourists need?

Our requirements are at least 300 hours of client training or behavioural consultations over the last three years. This should be across no less than 100 cases. This should only include Force Free methods. We do not accept the use of electric or shock collars by our registers. If you are found to be using these methods we will remove you from our register.

 Applied Behaviourists require at least 75 cases addressing categories 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13. These do not have to be vet referral cases.
 At least 20 cases must be linked to medication or natural remedies. 
 Applied behaviourists must have a minimum of 1 year of industry experience.
 At least a degree (or equivalent) in an animal behaviour centric qualification, but Masters (or equivalent) is recommended.
 You must complete the two essay questions, one centred around behaviour and welfare, and another around scientific literature. 
 You will also be asked to upload 5 case notes, with the owners details removed for data protection. The only required details is the dogs breed, age and sex.
